WCM 4 can be extended at multiple levels: back-office features, interaction with 3rd party systems, authentication, content search and retrieval. This extensibility is achieved thanks to the use and support of open standards, including a RESTful architectural style.

Content acquisition from 3rd party systems

WCM 4 ships with a PHP library that you can use to integrate with 3rd party systems and applications, or to write your own plugins.

	vBulletin forum indexer Leveraging user generated content is an increasingly important way to drive traffic to your website. The vBulletin plugin allows WCM users to index content created in the vBulletin forum engine and relate it to editorial content created or managed in WCM.

Single sign-on and authentication

	OpenID Tap into the power of single sign-on by letting users authenticate via their OpenID account. The plug-in is entirely configurable and connects to either public or private identity servers.
	LDAP standard support The LDAP authentication plug-in is highly configurable to support the broadest range of LDAP implementations from OpenLDAP to Microsoft Active Directory.

Back-office search and storage

	Solr WCM uses Apache Group's powerful Solr as the standard back-office search engine. Solr is an very powerful open source enterprise search server based on the Lucene Java search library.
	MySQL While MySQL is used as the standard storage in WCM 4, this plug-in allows it to be used as a back-office full-text search.
