3S: Finding, Discovery, Scalability & Unprecedented Control

Datasheet
3S is a multi-index finding engine that uses Nstein’s patented text mining technology to power a revolutionary new way for your users to connect with both the content they want, and the content you want them to connect with.
An Emphasis on Finding
Unlike traditional site search, 3S does not rely solely on keywords. Nstein’s technology discovers meaning and nuance in content and annotates/associates it accordingly; returning highly accurate categorized results that ensure users connect with the content they want.
From Finding to Discovery
3S returns faceted results. It identifies & labels the concepts, categories, people, places, organizations, proper names and sentiment contained in a document. The faceted display of results fosters a kind of "active browsing", where users not only find the content that they’re looking for, they’re also pointed to other relevant content.
Strategic Ad Placement
Because 3S identifies nuance, tone and the “aboutness” of content, contextually associated advertising is easy to deploy. Further, 3S offers an intuitive, easy to use back-end that allows administrators to place advertising content wherever they want in a search results query, leading to more exposure and ultimately, more revenue.
Tweak Algorithms Visually
Like all semantic technology, the algorithms supporting 3S are sophisticated and have evolved over years. That doesn’t mean they are inaccessible though. 3S offers a breakthrough, slider-based visual interface that allows administrators to adjust the sensitivity of the returned results. One can conceivably adjust between “more relevant” results vs. “more recent” results, for example.
Deploy Topical Microsites with Ease
Because 3S carefully indexes and annotates content from multiple archives in a nuanced, faceted way, it allows you to identify clusters of similarly-themed content and then deploy that content to highly topical microsites with ease. Developing a topical microsite with 3S is essentially as simple as performing a search. It finds, assembles, clusters and deploys relevant content for you, making it easier than ever to create new, highly targeted content-properties. For example, if you have thousands of articles on the subject of green energy, 3S can help you find and publish them, creating a timely, content-rich microsite that can bolster your traffic and revenues.
Index Content from Multiple Properties
3S can ingest content published from virtually any web CMS, blog engine or Web 2.0 community, the folder queue, the native REST API or the built-in crawler, and associate/annotate that content across properties. That means that publishers can drive traffic across their brands, creating a “cross-pollinating” effect that results in higher revenues, better SEO and a better customer experience. The thinking is, if you have content across properties, it makes sense to leverage it in every way possible.
Easy to Implement, Customize, Maintain, Modify and Operate
Typically, enterprise search can be very costly to deploy and difficult to maintain. Conversely, out-of-the-box search appliances cannot always be customized to conform to your company’s particular needs. 3S combines the power enterprise search with the ease-of-deployment of smaller search appliances; additionally, it is easier to customize than the others, even for non-programmers, who can create new search themes with a few clicks. Unlike many enterprise options, 3S does not limit the number of queries you can input, so you’re penalized for your success. Overall, 3S boasts a much lower cost of ownership than similar offerings.
Semantic Widgets and Mashup Capabilities
Out of the box, 3S comes bundled with a widget server and several sample widget implementations. Widgets can be added to any of your web pages to enhance your user’s search & discovery experience. Widgets can be used to point users to similar content, most recent content, or virtually any other aspect of your content that you’d like to push.
Using widgets and the powerful templating engine, integrators can quickly build complex search-based mashups, across indices. Use multiple searches across multiple indices to create brand new configurations and combinations of your content. Imagine pairing all the user-generated content about a certain topic with all the editorial content for that same topic, across properties!
