Nstein ends year signing two new sales agreements

2002-12-23

Montreal, December 23rd, 2002 - Nstein Technologies Inc. «Nstein» (TSX-V: EIN) announces that it has signed two agreements with le Service de développement des technologies de l'information (SDTI) and United Press International (UPI), totaling revenues of approximately $300,000 CDN.

Nstein's agreement with SDTI will enable Canadian companies to benefit over the next few months from new e commerce service innovations. SDTI will use Nstein's categorization technology to precisely "localize" the business information contained in thousands of documents so that they can be more rapidly disseminated throughout their clients' enterprises.

Says Claude Martineau, Director General of SDTI, "We considered a number of technologies, and in light of our test results and the precise technological criteria that we considered, our team of experts chose Nstein's as the technology that responded best to our current and future needs. The product's flexibility, high precision results, and adaptability are a few of the key measures that we judged would add towards our goals of increasing productivity and research precision."

Within the framework of this three-year agreement, SDTI also expects to be collaborating with the CIRANO research team at the University of Montreal's "Inter-University Centre for Organizational Research and Analysis", and with RALI (Laboratoire de recherche appliquée en linguistique informatique). It is expected that significant investment towards the development and adoption of additional software functionality will arise as a further outcome of this agreement.

Nstein is also pleased to announce the licensing of its newly-launched Arabic Concept Extractor™ to United Press International. UPI owns and distributes many publications worldwide, in many languages, including Arabic. The "Arabic Extractor" will provide UPI the ability to index its Arabic content automatically, facilitating quick retrieval and the ability to find similar documents. Nstein counts itself among the few companies that provide powerful CAI (Computer-Aided Indexing) solutions in Arabic, thus empowering users for better navigation, search and information retrieval. Arabic joins the list of other languages already available through Nstein: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Czech, Polish and Turkish.

Yves H. Boucher Appointed to Board of Directors
Mario Girard, Nstein's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer is pleased to announce the appointment of Yves H. Boucher to the company's Board of Directors. Mr. Boucher's nomination follows the departure of Mr. Bernard Verreault from the Board. Mr. Boucher will join the Board of Directors from his current position as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Nstein, which he will vacate as of December 31st, 2002.

"Yves will continue to serve the best interests of the company with the expertise that he brings to his new responsibilities", states Girard. "He brings a deep understanding of the financial and operating challenges that we face as a company, as well as several years experience in the high technology sector. These qualities comprise important attributes for the development of Nstein's future."

Financial responsibilities previously held by Boucher will be assumed by Mario Girard and the company's Finance Director, Bruno Martel. "For the past several months Nstein has maintained its financial autonomy and has focused its efforts on those initiatives expected to most quickly yield revenue. Today's sales announcements confirm that our strategic approach is on target, and that the modifications made to our management team will serve to reinforce our financial autonomy," emphasizes Girard.
