ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of the PM is to manage both projects and the relationship with customers, from point of sale (or earlier) right though the system lifecycle. Initially, the role is to define the requirements for each customer, and to co-ordinate various internal and external resources needed to deliver the service or project to the customer. Once the initial project is delivered successfully, the role is to maintain a good relationship, ensuring that the system continues to meet commercial requirements, and to identify (and deliver) new commercial opportunities for the customer.

Please note that this is a leadership role but that there is no direct line management.

This varied role requires a blend of commercial, analytic and personal skills.

Specifically, the responsibilities involve:

  • Business Analysis, Specification Development and Delivery Management: Analyse customer requirements and translate these into specifications for system deployment. This involves detailed analysis of the customer’s business processes and requirements, which then need to be matched against system functionality and possible software developments. PMs work closely with the Development and Technical Services Teams to implement the appropriate solution. The PM will need to plan the project and coordinate the resources and information needed to deliver the solution. They will need to anticipate, track and resolve all sorts of issues that arise during the project, managing customer expectations.
  • Pre-Sales support: Assist in pre-sales analysis.
  • Project Planning, Control and Management: Preparation of project plans and progress reports, and co-ordination/leadership of internal and customer resources needed to deliver the project. Also, tracking the commercial aspects.
  • Documentation and Training: Production of project-specific functional documentation, including training materials. Delivery and/or co-ordination of limited amounts of senior user training.
  • Following implementation, the PM is normally responsible for ongoing Customer Relationship Management, exploring incremental revenue opportunities and then to manage the implementation of incremental changes to the system. The PM also provides support to Sales execs who are responsible for major sales opportunities. PMs work as a team, reporting to the Director of Operations. They work closely with the Sales Team, Technical Services team (who carry out system installations and upgrades and provide support to customers) and our Development Team who carry out all of our product development.
The role is office based, with regular meetings with customers at their offices. Most customers are based in the UK.
