Picdar, an Nstein company, develops and implements its publishing workflow and content management solutions for an exciting range of customers including most national newspapers, leading magazines, travel companies and other large and small businesses. Some of these systems are absolutely massive, handling huge numbers of files, many users, many asset formats and with sophisticated security requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be responsible for providing high-end support to large prestigious clients throughout the UK. You must be dynamic, self-sufficient, independent, and have the ability to prioritize activities ensuring customer satisfaction. You will be working in a dynamic team composed of great professionals in the field.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Chief Solutions Engineering functions:
- Manage, coordinate and plan all complex software installations.
- Escalation point for critical support issues.
- Produce FAQ’s, information documents based on clients’ technical problems and technical and user documentation.
- Plan, install and configure applications on various platforms as part of technical problem solving operations.
- Re-create customer’s production environment in test and development systems
- Plan and perform product upgrades, install software patches and upgrades
- Plan and cooAssets:rdinate off-hours deployment, upgrades, migration and special implementation activities at customer site.
- Assess and document Risk Management for 24/7 optimization.
- Engage in business logic with customers: understand clients’ business and data flows, provide recommendations, consulting services, etc.
- Perform specialized applications training when required.
Point of contact:
- Participate in Sales Proposals in order to determine TCO for proposed solution.
- Bring expertise to project team by defining (in relationship with customer, Project Manager and developers), the appropriate architecture that would meet customer’s requirements.
- Document typical architecture for common deployments.
- Execute load test and stress tests in order to assess recommendations.
- Document limitations.
- Provide recommendations to Development for performance and security improvements.
- Contribute to set-up of product demonstration.
- Participate in product documentation (system requirements, typical deployment, best practices…)
REQUIREMENTS
Essentials:
- At least 10 years experience in the publishing industry
- At least 10 years experience in Project Control and Process
- Be very customer-driven
- Able to work perform as a leader in high pressure situations
- Solid expertise in Solaris, Linux, Apache and RDBMS Databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server)
- Solid expertise of server, network and storage architectures
- Solid expertise in volume management software.
- Solid expertise in process debugging and monitoring tools.
- Solid expertise in XML, XSLT Shell Scripting.
- Good communication skills.
- The candidate must have demonstrated, in past jobs, the ability to be extremely rigorous and resourceful, with an exceptional desire of accomplishing a perfect job.
- The candidate must be able to work very well under pressure.
Assets:
- Software engineering or programming background
- Experience of search technologies
- Expertise in Windows Server solutions
- Sound knowledge of the Unix kernel and process architecture
